Namibia stretches along the west coast of Southern Africa and is 825, 000 sq km with 1,83 million people. It is one of the least populated countries of the world.
It got its name from the desert strip along the west coast which is called the Namib Desert.
The official language is English, but the locals speak Bantu or Khoisan, Afrikaans or German.
In the west is the Namib Desert and in the east the Kalahari which is hot and dry all year round. Even in winter (June – August) the temperature will climb to 25 °C and more by day and 0 °C by night. Rainfall is very seldom. In summer (December-March) it is very hot with more than 30 °C.
The Caprivi Strip is the opposite. It rains often and Caprivi is Namibia’s answer to the Okavango Delta. This is the only humid area in Namibia. Namibia is the country with great picture opportunities with its fantastic scenery. The landscape differs in form, color and diversity. There is the Etosha National Park with its vast saltpan, the Dunes in Sesriem & Soussus Vlei, Fish River Canyon, Damaraland, Skeleton Coast, Lüderitz, Swakopmund or Windhoek, The Naukluft Nature Reserve, The Caprivi strip or the Kalahari it is unique and one of a kind.
After diamonds and uranium mines Namibia has big agriculture industries. The biggest are cattle and sheep farms but you can also find ostriches, horses, pigs, goats and even camels being farmed. Other farms cultivate olives wine, dates and roses are farmed.
